Ow!

I think I screwed up my leg again. I did the steps too many times today & now I have this deep bone ache all thru my knee & lower leg. Son of a bitch it hurts. I don't gets this often so I've never come up with a plan to get rid of it. OW! It's that pain they used to try & tell me was growing pains. Today I am formally announcing I fucking hate EDS.

Ow, ow, ow! Ok, I'll stop now.

Growing pains. I remember being told that. What a crock that was! One thing I am glad about for my kids, is I will never hand them shit like that when they hurt.

I used to wake up a lot in the night from "growing pains" & walk down the hall to my mom's room. She'd put ointment on & tell me to go back to bed. Needless to say the ointment did nothing. I used to lay in bed for ages trying to recount my whole day to see if I'd done anything that would have hurt me, but couldn't come up with anything. Then I'd wonder if I walked to hard & that was the problem.

When/if Toad comes to me with pains like that she won't be getting ointment.

Can I ask if you have needed to use something for their pain related to EDS & if so does an Advil (or Tylenol if you prefer) & a heating pad (or ice if you prefer) work? I got nothing for my pain til I was old enough to buy my own at the drug store so I've no clue what would work with younger kids.

Yes I will give them either Tylenol or Advil. Tylenol is hard on the liver and Advil is hard on the stomach, so I try not to rely on either one of them all the time, but I alternate them, both for myself and my kids.

There is a real thing as growing pains BTW. I was told by two doctors that bone grows faster than soft tissue, so growing pains happen when the bone has grown and the soft tissue is stretched, having not caught up yet.

I have not tried heat or ice or anything, because these pains usually happen at night (and usually on a school night!) and I don't want to futz around too much with a hurting kid. I give them medicine and love and they usually settle down after a little while.

If leg pain is happening frequently (more than a few times a month), you may want to have her feet/legs checked. Flat feet is a common problem with EDS and it can cause leg/hip/back pain.
